VBS THANK YOU
We want to thank all the people and teachers who gave their time to help us have a good time at Lordstown Vacation Bible School. The crafts, games, stories and treats were the best. Captive Free taught us so many songs about Jesus. We had a great time and made many new friends. See you next summer.

FROM OUR THRIVENT FRIENDS

The Summit/Portage chapter of Thrivent Financial appreciates your efforts in helping us reach out to our members and Lutheran Congregations. They are planning a mission trip October 17-22 to Biloxi, Ms. While therethey will help rebuild homes, and lives that were damaged during Hurricanes Katrina and Ivan. An informational meeting will be held in Mid July. Please e-mail Rick Hill at portagessummitevents@gmail.com if you are interested.

Costs are discounted for qualifying Thrivent Financial members. This is a joint venture of Thrivent Buildsworldwide and Habitat for Humanity, Gulf Coast Community. More
information may be found on our web site: www.summitportagechapter.com and www.thriventbuilds.com

(Just a side note to the above, even though it has been 6 years since Hurricanes Katrina and Ivan, and this community has seen much progress. They have a very long way to go. Many of you know that our daughter was in this area during both storms and Ed and I were in Gulfport/Biloxi within days of Katrina. Last August we went to the area again to visit friends. They were hit by both storms within months of each other and recovery is very slow but steady. Please help where you can.)

PRAYERS FOR THE PERSECUTED

CHURCH
AUGUST—IRAQ

Iraq's Christian minority have experienced much
violence. Bomb blasts regularly damaged
churches and Christians continued to receive
death threats, some clearly intended to expel all
Christians from areas of Baghdad and Mosul.
Christians have been kidnapped and murdered
for their faith. The violence has forced tens of
thousands of Christians out of their homes, some
out of the country.
